Hard to believe it, but there was a time when I hated matte lipstick. The few I had tried would drag on my lips and felt uncomfortably dry, so I associated a matte lip with an unpleasant experience. For years, I stuck to things that had a bit of slip. Until one day, I purchased MAC Velvet Teddy and my previous misconceptions quickly disappeared. Fast forward to today and matte is my lipstick finish of choice, and MAC does have one of the best formulas in the market, in a plethora of shades to suit everyone. When news hit that they were coming out with some new exciting shades as part of their Matte Lip Collection, I couldn't wait to get my hands on a few of them!
MAC Stripdown lipstick is also a pretty shade and we will give you the dupes if you just comment that you are looking for MAC Stripdown dupe. We have listed down two MAC Lipliner dupes now and will be adding more to this list as and when we stumble upon some great dupes. The next list is for MAC Whirl dupe and we are this close to closing the list. If you have dark hair and find taupe isn't blending in perfectly, keep in mind that 'many brow pencils that look like they'd be right for you might actually skew too red,' according to Komarovski.
MAC's 2015 Matte Lip Collection has been a hot topic as of late; and it's no surprise why. It is made up of 21 shades, six of which are in the Retro Matte finish and the rest Matte. It includes some regular shades we all know and love, but also introduced some new permanent shades into the range. The most exciting additions, in my opinion, were the lipstick versions of two well-known and much-loved lip pencils – Whirl and Stone. I don't own the Stone lip pencil but Whirl is one of my all favourites, and I am sure many of you would agree – it suits so many skin tones! I limited myself to those two, plus a gorgeous brown orange nude – Persistence. Each of these shades are so unique to me, I couldn't pass on them. They're rumoured to be released in Australia in August sometime; once I find an 'official' release date, I will update you all.
Although MAC matte lipsticks have a fantastic formulation, I've found that some shades can be super creamy, while others can be a bit drying, so keep that in mind. Prepping your lips for matte lipstick can sometimes be necessary. If you have flaky lips or anything like that, then make sure to use a gentle scrub to lift any dry skin, and follow it up with a dab of lip balm. Once it's been absorbed, go in with your lipstick. It'll be extra comfortable! If you have had issues rocking matte lips, then I would also recommend keeping hydrated. Drink plenty of water; seems trivial but trust me, it makes a world of difference.

Music shareware for mac. Stone – A muted greyish taupe brown. I must admit this is a bit out of my comfort zone. I like how it looks on but I am not sure on wearing it out on the street yet… I will keep you posted. It's beautiful and very unique, non-the-less.

Whirl – It is described as a dirty rose; a muted medium rose with warm brown undertones. This is the perfect Kylie Jenner-esque 90s lip, but a wearable one at that, thanks to its rosy tones. The only downside I've found is that this particular shade can be a little bit on the drying side; but on the plus side, it stays on for hours – I'd say 7, at least.
Persistence – A peachy cinnamon, with an undeniable red undertone. This shade has my name written all over it. I am very much into brownish nudes with a hint of orange at the moment, and this is one of those shades. It's a gorgeous transitional shade that will remain in my handbag from winter to spring. The only downside to this shade is that it looks too much like MAC Taupe. It's actually very hard to tell the difference between the two once applied to the lips.

All three of these lipsticks were opaque in one swipe and very easy to apply. I really think you can't go wrong with MAC!

Thought I'd include a comparison swatch of Whirl in the lipstick and lip pencil forms. They're almost identical, but I'd say in person the lip liner is a tiny bit more brown. Love them paired together!
